HealthStream defines Employee Engagement as an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral connection with an organization’s mission, vision, and values. Engaged staff members view their work as a personal investment that manifests itself in a positive effort, a demonstration of ownership, and enthusiasm for attaining organizational goals. On the other hand, staff members who are actively disengaged are those who have “quit” their job, but still show up every day to under-perform and undermine the effectiveness of the organization’s mission. This study is designed to give you an overview of the state of workforce engagement in the healthcare industry today.
